Multacom
Promotes President Abbey Silverstone to Vice Chairman
of International Business Development
City
of Industry, CA - Jan.2, 2001 - Multa Communications
Corporation (Multacom), a Los Angeles-based multi-national
broadband network service provider, announced today
the promotion of company President Abbey Silverstone
to Vice Chairman of International Business Development.
Silverstone,
who joined Multacom as President 14 months ago, was
responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company.
In his new role as Vice Chairman of International Business
Development, he will be responsible for leading Multacom's
International efforts, which represent a major growth
opportunity for the company. He also will develop strategic
alliances for Multacom with industry leaders to secure
growth and success of the company's expanding global
network.
"As
President, I took great pride in leading Multacom's
effort to expand our performance scalability and the
company's nationwide network through our master service
agreement with Broadwing," Silverstone said.
Silverstone
also played a strategic role in working with Vincent
Tsao, Vice President of Asian Operations, in getting
a strategic bilateral sales and marketing agreement
signed last year with China Unicom and a cooperative
joint venture agreement with China Railway Telecommunication
Center (CRTC). The agreement with China Unicom allows
Multacom to offer one-hop clear channel and frame relay
service to Shanghai, Beijing, and Guangzhou for telecommunications
carriers, ISPs, data center providers and international
enterprises.
The
cooperative joint venture with CRTC makes Multacom one
of only a few foreign companies allowed to provide new
technology, knowledge and experience to promote China's
telecommunications industry.
Bob
Hong, Multacom's Chairman, said Silverstone has proven
his ability to help Multacom grow. "We feel our
next step is to develop more strategic alliances and
partnerships to globally expand our connectivity. We
feel that Abbey will be able to concentrate his efforts
in this area and bring us up to the next level."
Vincent
Tsao commended Silverstone on his global vision of the
IT Industry. He said Silverstone had proved to others
in the telecommunications industry that Multacom is
a well-organized, progressive and insightful company.
"His experience in creating strategic alliances
has helped instill a high level of confidence in our
dealings with China Unicom and with the China Railway
Telecommunication Center," Tsao said.
Multacom
is a privately held corporation based in City of Industry,
California that operates an OC-3 ATM broadband backbone
network throughout the U.S. and China. Multacom has

service providers and, with these partners, has access
to 43 data centers throughout the U.S., Taiwan and China.

high-speed Internet access, VPNs, co-location, web hosting
services and web development. Multacom's primary market
