Job
Description
The
Internet Network Engineer III is responsible for
planning and designing new hubs and upgrades to
existing hubs. Also the coordination and performance
of maintenance activities, installations, and
testing of networking equipment, using automated
tools, fault isolation and resolution, and documentation
of required steps.
Duties
include
-
Design
new hubs and upgrades to existing hubs.

Configuration of management
routers
-
Building PVC's over layer-2
fabric
-
Resolution of problems
-
Preparation of reports (i.e.,
weekly updates)
-
Documentation requirements
for network implementation
-
Coordinate turn-over of new
equipment with Network Services
-
Coordinate installation of
large-scale routers (XR, TR, Gateway, etc.)
-
Coordinate installation of
layer-2 switches
-
Test and confirm physical
connectivity
-
Implement project plans
-
Preparation of activation
and technical upgrade/installation plans
-
Review project packages
from junior engineer in group for accuracy
-
Provide technical assistance
to level I and II Engineers
Job
Requirements
Bachelor's
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent,
plus 5 to 8 years of related experience.
Requisite
Skills
- Previous experience in
internet networking design.
- Requires
background in and knowledge of IP, Frame Relay,
ATM,ISDN, E1, E3, DS3, STM-1, STM-4, OC-3, OC-12,
OC-48
- Extensive
knowledge of large-scale routers, layer-2 switches
(Frame-Relay, and ATM), terminal servers, and
dial-up networking technologies

Extensive knowledge of routing
protocols/policies to include, BGP (v.4),ISIS,
and OSPF
- Prior
technical installation and configuration of
ISP network equipment highly preferred
-
Working knowledge of drafting
software (Auto-cad, Visio).

and prioritize multiple issues simultaneously
