Description
The
right candidate will be able to interact effectively
with customers, carriers and peering ISPs. Will
also be able to manage both internal and external
problem escalations and work with ILECs and IXCs
for cooperative testing, fault isolation and repair.
Will monitor and troubleshoot Multacom's network,
including all servers, routers and switches. Coordinate
the efforts of the NOC, Engineering, Operations,
and external vendor personnel to diagnose and
isolate high-level network faults. Provide network
performance monitoring, remote configuration management,
fault isolation and event correlation support
to network and field service operations and alarms.
Will send monitoring reports to supervisor and
customers, including traffic, BSP traffic exchange,
capacity planning and environment reports.

Requirements
We
are looking for individuals with excellent communication
skills and an aptitude for negotiation. Must have
an outstanding method of follow-thru. A BS, MS,
CS/EE/MIS degree, plus training/experience in
a related field and 2-4 years supervisory experience
is required. Understanding of: IP, OSPF, BGP,
Firewall, ATM and frame-relay (Lucent/Ascend,
GX550, CBX500, b-stdx9000 experience preferred);
strong router experience (CCNA/CCNP preferred);
Windows NT; UNIX Administration; Mail/News/Web
server; HP Openview, concord, MRTG or equivalent
network monitoring experience. Ability to understand,
perform and document logical troubleshooting steps
to isolate and resolve network problems. Need
working knowledge of network elements and circuits,
including T1/T3/Ocx testing, turn-up and troubleshooting.
Physical demands working in a 24/7 NOC environment
- must be able to do shift work and also be on-call.
Moderate travel may be required.
